NOBITE is an insect protection agent that consists of a long-lasting repellent for the skin that is suited for use in the tropics and an impregnation agent for clothing. Since 40% of mosquito bites occur through clothing, the impregnation of clothing is recommended. The impregnation of clothing lasts for up to one month and is twice as effective by itself as the repellent for the skin. If you combine both measures, the number of bites drops to an extremely low level (from around 2200 bites without protection to 1.5 bites). A reduction in the number of mosquito bites through NOBITE means a decreased risk of contracting such infections as malaria, dengue fever and the Zika virus. Furthermore, the impregnation of clothing provides the best possible protection against ticks: should a tick come into contact with impregnated clothing, it will fall off.
The combination of a long-lasting repellent for the skin and an impregnation agent for clothing is recommended by travel medicine advice centres as a way of protecting against vector-borne diseases (e.g. malaria, dengue fever and the Zika virus). The combination of protection for skin and clothing also works against various mosquitoes and ticks at our latitudes.
